A Paris court upheld doctors’ decision to limit some treatments for an 18-month-old boy with severe brain injuries. His parents opposed the decision and can appeal within a month.
Treatment
They opposed limiting treatments and pointed to signs of responsiveness and what they saw as positive changes.
They supported limiting some treatments and said they would not carry out certain intensive interventions if his condition deteriorated.
Prognosis
They challenged the speed of the decision and cited contradictions in medical observations.
They judged that the boy faced severe neurological impairment and extensive dependence.
