Apple launches smart home accessories with LG and Schneider Electric

Apple has introduced the Apple Home Collection, a range of smart home devices made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

The lineup includes cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats and temperature sensors, designed to work with Apple’s Home app, Siri and its new HomeView hub.

The devices can be set up with an iPhone and controlled without separate apps or accounts.

The cameras can identify people, pets, vehicles and packages, while their recorded footage is stored through iCloud+.

The lock can automatically unlock when an authorized person approaches with an iPhone or Apple Watch, and the indoor camera can tilt away when someone is home.

The collection extends Apple’s smart home range and could help it compete with established connected-home products from Amazon and Google.

The products are expected to arrive from December, though some accessories may not launch until early 2027.
