Kacey Musgraves responds to Kristi Noem’s criticism with dog reference
Kacey Musgraves and Kristi Noem exchanged criticism on social media after a Musgraves concert in Dallas.
Texas Senate candidate James Talarico attended the show over the weekend and shared a photo with the singer.
Noem, a former homeland security secretary and current U.S. special envoy, criticized Musgraves for welcoming him.
She said she preferred country singer Ella Langley and Talarico’s Republican opponent, Ken Paxton.
Musgraves replied with a joke about Noem’s account in her memoir of shooting and killing her dog, Cricket.
That account drew widespread backlash when the memoir was published in 2024.
Langley and Paxton were not directly involved in the exchange, and no further response or next step was reported.
