RET cancels all Rotterdam-area bus services during Wednesday strike
Rotterdam transport operator RET will run no buses on Wednesday because of a national strike in regional transport.
The cancellation includes neighborhood buses, while metro and tram services are due to follow their normal schedules.
Many RET drivers are covered by the regional transport collective agreement, and the operator says its bus services are too closely connected to run only some of them.
The strike follows stalled talks over that agreement.
Unions are seeking, among other things, a 9.5% pay rise over two years and better work schedules.
About 13,000 people are expected to take part, mostly bus drivers but also some office staff.
RET says its travel planner should be updated overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, and unions say they expect further action if the strike does not achieve its aims.
