Federal agents searched the Washington home of Ilhan Omar, a Democratic member of Congress from Minnesota.

The Justice Department said the search was carried out under a court-authorised warrant as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, but did not name Omar or explain the investigation.

Omar, who came to the United States from Somalia as a child, said the search was an attempt to target political opponents.

Researchers found evidence of a possible planet around the white dwarf HS 0209+0832, using old observations from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.

Hubble first recorded about 100 chemical signatures it could not identify in this system in 1999.

The team matched many of those signatures to niobium, an element that can form in the unusual conditions inside dying stars.

The amount detected was about 1,000 times the level in our Sun, pointing to a planet made from material shed by the star.
