Russia suspends sales of several Chinese truck models over safety violations

Russia’s Rosstandart suspended sales of several truck models made by Chinese brands JAC, Dongfeng, Foton and XCMG.

The affected vehicles include heavy, light and medium-duty trucks, as well as truck cranes and some special-purpose vehicles.

Inspectors found failures in brakes, cabin protection and other required standards, including rules on emissions, seat-belt anchors, noise and warning lights.

The agency said the defects could increase the risk of crashes, injuries and deaths for drivers, passengers and others on the road.

The manufacturers told Rosstandart they had stopped selling the affected vehicles and were preparing recall plans for the agency’s approval.

The restrictions may be lifted after the violations are corrected.
