First look shows Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Miami Vice reboot
Universal has released the first look at Miami Vice ’85, a reboot of the 1980s crime series.
Michael B. Jordan plays undercover detective Ricardo Tubbs, and Austin Butler plays James Crockett.
The new film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose credits include Top Gun: Maverick, with a script by Dan Gilroy.
The original NBC series ran from 1984 to 1989 and followed two Miami detectives working undercover against drug kingpins.
Its sleek style helped make the show a landmark, and it also inspired the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The reboot is set in 1980s Miami, returning the franchise to the period of the original series.
Production is underway, and the film is scheduled to open in theaters on May 19, 2028.
