ORBES plans to send robots to the ISS and capture exterior footage

Anna Shaposhnik founded ORBES in 2024 to build robots that can help with work and filming in space.

The California-based startup has two products designed for different tasks.

ORB is planned to travel to the International Space Station next year in partnership with Voyager Technologies.

It is designed to work inside space stations, while EXO-ORB is intended to film the outside of space structures.

EXO-ORB is scheduled to fly on a demonstration mission in late 2027 or early 2028 aboard Symphony Space’s Adagio platform.

The robots could help inspect spacecraft and satellites, a practical need as companies build and operate space infrastructure.

Shaposhnik hopes that work could lead to broader uses, including filming movies in orbit and creating virtual-reality views of space stations.
