Elon Musk gives at least $276 million to Republicans for midterms
Elon Musk has given at least $276 million to Republican causes since July, making him the biggest known donor to the party’s midterm campaigns.
A spokesperson for his political group, America PAC, confirmed the total.
Of that amount, $158 million went to the Senate Leadership Fund, a major Republican group that supports Senate candidates.
The group is spending heavily to help retain a Senate seat in Texas, where Republican Ken Paxton is in a close race against Democrat James Talarico.
Texas has not elected a Democrat to statewide office since 1994.
Musk gave nearly $300 million to help Donald Trump win the 2024 presidential election, but later said he would spend less on politics and fell out with Trump over a major tax and domestic policy law.
The two have appeared to improve their relationship, and campaigns and some political groups, including America PAC, must disclose their finances by Thursday.
Elon Musk has given at least $276 million to political groups supporting Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections since July.
The largest reported contribution was $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which supports Republican Senate candidates.
Musk also gave $76 million to America PAC and $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, which supports Texas Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton.
The donations mark a shift from Musk’s earlier stated intention to spend less on politics.
The spending comes as Republicans face potential losses amid voter frustration over the president’s performance, high prices and the war with Iran.
