Mumbai Water Supply Hit As Pipeline Leak Repairs Face Hurdles
Mumbai has very big pipes that bring water to the city.
One of the biggest pipes, called the Mumbai-III pipeline, got a hole in it near Teen Haath Naka in Thane.
Water started shooting out of the pipe on Friday.
Workers from the city's municipal corporation, the BMC, came to fix it.
The pipe is very deep underground, about three to four metres down.
It also has a protective casing around it, which makes the repair hard.
The workers had to dig a big hole and use machines to reach the pipe.
Fixing the leak is taking longer than expected because of these difficulties.
So on Saturday, August 15, many parts of Mumbai and the eastern suburbs may not get water.
The BMC is asking everyone to save water until the repair is finished.

The major leak was detected on Friday near Teen Haath Naka in Thane, along the Eastern Express Highway.
Repair work began on Friday night but faced technical difficulties because the pipeline lies three to four metres below ground and is protected by an outer casing.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation warned that water supply to Mumbai city and the eastern suburbs will be affected and urged citizens to use water judiciously.
Civic workers are using JCB machinery and a large excavation to expose the pipeline and identify the exact source of the leak.
