Major Leak in Mumbai-III Pipeline Threatens Mumbai Water Supply

Mumbai is a huge city that needs lots of clean water every day.

The water travels through big pipes hidden underground.

One very large pipe, called the Mumbai-III pipeline, is near a place called Teen Haath Naka in Thane.

It started leaking badly, so the city's workers had to hurry to fix it.

The pipe is buried 3 to 4 metres below the ground and is covered in strong concrete, which makes the job very hard.

Workers dug a big pit and used a machine called a JCB to find exactly where the leak is.

The pipe is so important that the leak could affect water supply for people in parts of Mumbai.

The city's officials say the leak has not affected the water supply yet.

Officials also said the pipe may have been damaged during investigations by another authority.

The city has asked everyone to use water carefully until the repairs are finished.
