BMC Announces Water Supply Disruption In Andheri, Santacruz, Bandra, BKC
The BMC is the group that takes care of Mumbai's water supply.
They need to fix a very big pipe called the Vaitarna pipeline.
Because of that work, some homes in Mumbai will get no water, and others will get only a little, on August 11 and 12.
The places affected include Andheri, Santacruz, Bandra, Khar and the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
On August 11, parts of Andheri East will have very low water pressure for a few hours.
Some areas near the airport will have no water at all on that day.
On August 12, the water will be shut off in even more places, including Khar and Bandra East.
The BMC wants people to store water before the work starts and to use it carefully.
People are also asked to boil and filter their drinking water for the next few days.
After the repair work is finished, the water supply should return to normal.
The BMC will carry out maintenance of the 2,400-mm Vaitarna water pipeline from 10 am on August 11 to 10 am on August 12, 2026.
Water supply will be completely suspended in parts of H-East ward on August 11, including Air India Colony, Santacruz (East), Bandra Terminus and BKC, and across the entire ward on August 12.
Several areas of Andheri East will receive low-pressure water supply at staggered times on August 11 and 12; one article identifies this ward as K-East while another calls it K-South.
On August 12, the shutdown extends to Santacruz (East), Khar (East) and Bandra (East), with impacts continuing in Sahar Village, Sutar Pakhadi and the Cargo Complex.
The BMC has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance, use it judiciously, and boil and filter drinking water as a precaution.
