The Konkan Railway is a train line in India that runs along the coast near the sea.
It is a very busy route that many people use.
It is so busy that it is working at 145% of the capacity it was built for.
That is like a school backpack holding more books than it can really fit.
To help, the government is adding new crossing stations where trains can pass each other.
They are also adding extra loop lines and building more tracks.
About 55 kilometers of new track have already been finished.
They are studying how to add 263 more kilometers of track.
During festivals and holidays, they run extra special trains so more people can travel.
They are also making thousands of new non-AC coaches for passengers who want cheaper tickets.
The Konkan Railway's Roha–Madgaon section is operating at around 145% average line capacity utilisation.
Indian Railways commissioned eight new crossing stations and 12 additional loop lines on the section over the past decade.
About 55 km of track doubling between Roha-Veer and Madgaon-Majorda is completed, with a feasibility survey sanctioned for another 263 km.
Indian Railways operated 381 Ganpati Specials, 249 Summer Specials, 148 Winter Specials and 1,366 other special services on the route during 2025-26.
Non-AC coaches make up around 70% of the railway coach fleet and nearly 78% of passenger seating capacity, with 17,000 new non-AC coaches being manufactured.
