Central Railway Adds 22 More 15-Coach Locals From August 15
Mumbai has local trains that carry lots of people every day.
Some of these trains are too crowded, especially during busy times.
To fix this, Central Railway is making 22 more trains longer by adding three extra coaches to each one.
A train with more coaches can carry more passengers safely.
These longer trains will start running on August 15.
People who travel to places like Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat and Khopoli will find more space.
Eleven of the new longer trains will run during the busiest morning and evening hours.
After this change, there will be 54 longer trains on Central Railway instead of 32.
The same total number of trains will still run, so passengers just get bigger trains to ride.
Central Railway will upgrade 22 suburban services from 12 coaches to 15 coaches starting August 15 to ease crowding on the main line.
Each upgraded service will gain around 25 per cent more carrying capacity, benefiting commuters traveling to and from Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat and Khopoli.
The number of 15-coach local services on Central Railway will rise from 32 to 54, with 11 of the 22 upgraded services operating during peak hours.
Key upgraded peak-hour trains include the 8.27 am Ambernath-CSMT and 10 am Khopoli-Karjat locals, plus the 7.42 pm CSMT-Ambernath and 7.50 pm CSMT-Karjat services.
Khopoli-Parel and CSMT-Ambernath services will now run up to Dadar, while the overall number of Central Railway suburban services remains unchanged at 1,820.
