Ganeshotsav Travel Rush Drives Mumbai–Konkan Special Train Demand
Ganeshotsav is a major festival in Maharashtra.
Many people who live in Mumbai travel to their hometowns in Konkan for the celebrations.
Because so many people travel at the same time, regular trains fill up quickly.
The Railways has added special trains to give passengers more choices.
So far, more than 113,000 passengers have booked these trains.
Their tickets have brought in ₹7.77 crore in revenue.
Some trains filled up within minutes, leaving many people on waiting lists.
Extra coaches and unreserved trains may help more passengers travel.
Railway staff are also preparing to manage crowds at stations.
A total of 1,13,428 passengers have booked Mumbai–Konkan special trains, generating ₹7.77 crore in railway revenue.
Central Railway will operate 200 reserved and 62 unreserved special trips from August 27 to September 26.
Western Railway will operate 54 reserved special trips from September 7 to September 26.
Railway officials may attach extra coaches to some trains to address demand and waiting lists.
Additional security, cleanliness, ticket-checking staff and temporary reservation counters are being arranged for the festival rush.
