Railways Plan Yard Remodelling, New Lines for Kanpur
Kanpur Central is a very busy railway station in Uttar Pradesh.
Many trains and passengers use it every day.
Indian Railways wants to reduce crowding and make trains move more smoothly.
It plans to rebuild parts of the station yard and add more railway lines.
Some platforms will be extended, and washing lines will be lengthened for larger MEMU trains.
The station is also being redeveloped with new buildings, shelters and an air concourse.
A nearby goods yard will become a satellite station in stages.

North Central Railway plans a Rs 42 crore yard remodelling project with electronic interlocking and extensions to platforms 3, 8 and 9.
Two additional lines costing Rs 18.59 crore are planned to increase yard capacity and support more trains on the Lucknow route.
Existing washing lines will be extended for 12-coach MEMU rakes at an estimated cost of Rs 4.17 crore.
Kanpur Goods Marshalling Yard will be developed as a satellite station, beginning with two platforms costing Rs 62.30 crore.
