Mumbai’s Seven Reservoirs Rise To 95.53% Of Capacity
Mumbai gets much of its water from seven reservoirs.
On Monday morning, they were 95.53% full.
Together, they contained 13,82,624 million litres of water.
This was higher than the 95.22% recorded the day before.
Modak Sagar was completely full, while Upper Vaitarna was 89.32% full.
Rain fell in the areas around several reservoirs.
Some lakes, including Tansa, Vehar, Tulsi and Modak Sagar, were still overflowing.
The high water levels mean Mumbai has a strong water supply for the coming months.
Mumbai’s seven reservoirs held 13,82,624 million litres as of 6 am Monday, reaching 95.53% of useful storage capacity.
The level rose from 95.22% and 13,78,143 million litres recorded at 6 am Sunday.
Modak Sagar remained completely full, while Upper Vaitarna stood at 89.32% of useful capacity.
Modak Sagar, Tansa, Vehar and Tulsi continued overflowing after reaching their overflow levels earlier in the monsoon.
Continued rainfall and high reservoir levels have strengthened Mumbai’s water security for the coming months.
