Mumbai’s Seven Lakes Hold Over 94% Water Stock
Mumbai gets most of its municipal water from seven lakes.
These lakes were more than 94% full on both Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, they held 13,64,737 million litres of water.
On Friday, the amount was slightly lower at 13,64,385 million litres.
The small drop may reflect normal water use and changing inflows.
Modak Sagar, Vehar and Tulsi were completely full.
Tansa and Middle Vaitarna were also nearly full.
Rain during the monsoon helped increase the city’s water reserves.
BMC officials are watching the lakes and dam gates carefully.
Mumbai’s seven lakes held 94.29% of combined useful storage on Thursday, then 94.27% on Friday morning.
The latest total was 13,64,385 million litres against a combined useful capacity of 14,47,363 million litres.
Modak Sagar, Vehar and Tulsi were each at 100% of useful storage.
On Friday, Tansa stood at 98.77% and Middle Vaitarna at 94.03%; Thursday’s figures were 98.69% and 94.22%, respectively.
Monsoon rainfall improved reservoir levels, while the BMC continued monitoring inflows, gates and water releases.
