Mumbai’s Seven Lakes Reach 95.95% Storage as Monsoon Continues
Mumbai gets much of its water from seven lakes.
On August 29, 2026, the lakes were almost 96% full.
Together, they held about 13.88 lakh million litres of useful water.
This was slightly more than the 95.87% recorded the day before.
Vehar was completely full, and Modak Sagar was nearly full.
Upper Vaitarna had the lowest level, at 89.76%.
Rain fell at all seven reservoirs during the previous 24 hours.
The monsoon has helped keep Mumbai’s water supply in a comfortable position.
Mumbai’s seven lakes held 13,88,785 million litres of useful water as of 6 am on August 29, 2026.
Overall storage rose to 95.95% from 95.87% on August 28, according to the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department.
Vehar remained at 100% capacity, while Modak Sagar stood at 99.99%.
Tansa, Tulsi, Middle Vaitarna and Bhatsa held between 95.98% and 98.37% of useful storage.
Upper Vaitarna had the lowest level at 89.76%, while rainfall continued across all seven reservoirs.
