Thane Water Crisis: Mayor Orders Probe Into Contractors' Lapses
Thane Water Crisis Sparks Heated Debate; Mayor Orders Probe Into Contractors' Lapses · freepressjournal.in

People in Thane city are very upset because they don't have enough water, even though the dams are full.

Some people get no water for four days at a time.

Others only get a tiny trickle of water for a few minutes each day.

Some of the water is dirty and not safe to drink.

The city's leaders met on Monday to talk about this big problem.

They blamed the companies that build water pipes for working too slowly.

One company took four months to build just 100 metres of pipeline.

The leaders want these slow companies to be punished and banned from future work.

The mayor has ordered a full check on all the pipeline projects.

The city's engineer says most of the work is done and everything should be finished by November 2027.
