Piped gas, solar power among PM Modi's 11 post-2014 achievements
Prime Minister Modi gave a very long speech on India's Independence Day at the Red Fort in New Delhi.
He told everyone about how India has changed in the last 12 years.
He said many more families now have gas for cooking and clean tap water.
India now makes a lot more of its own phones, trains, and defence equipment.
More houses get electricity from sunlight, and the railways that run on electricity were finished much faster.
He said more people can now get seats in medical colleges to become doctors.
Many more people in India now have health insurance to help them when they are sick.
People are also buying many more electric vehicles, which are better for the environment.
He said all of this happened because people all over India worked hard together.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort in Delhi, said 25 crore citizens have risen out of poverty in the past 12 years.
He cited a four-fold increase in defence production, with domestic output rising from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.78 lakh crore in 2025-26, a figure also highlighted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Since 2014, he said, mobile phone production grew 35-fold, digital transactions grew 100-fold, electronic manufacturing grew nearly seven-fold and internet consumers grew four-fold.
Before 2014 only 70 cities in India had piped gas access; now more than 700 cities do, and solar energy capacity has grown from 2 GW to 160 GW, with over 50 lakh households powered by solar energy.
Social security cover has expanded from less than 25 crore people to around 100 crore, while electric vehicle sales rose from 1.5 lakh in 2009-10 to 25 lakh in 2025-26.
