This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke from an old fort called the Red Fort.

He raised India's national flag and then told everyone how much India has grown.

He said that in the last 12 years, India has moved forward very fast.

Factories now make 33 times more mobile phones than before.

India also makes a lot more defence equipment and high-tech railway coaches.

More people are using the internet, and more people are making digital payments instead of using cash.

The prime minister said the country has never seen this speed of progress since it became independent.

Independence Day is a special day to celebrate India's freedom and the good things happening in the country.
