Indonesia plans three egg and meat processing plants
Indonesia plans to build three plants to process eggs and meat into powder.
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman says the facilities would form part of a more connected livestock industry, from feed supplies to processing and sales.
The plants are intended to give farmers and livestock producers another outlet when egg and chicken production exceeds demand.
That could reduce reliance on selling fresh products, whose prices can fall when supply is high.
The government also hopes local production will replace imports of egg powder and reduce spending abroad.
Officials estimate an initial investment of about 200 billion rupiah per plant, potentially rising to 250 billion rupiah for a facility that processes meat.
The plans still need further study and cross-ministry approval, and construction could start in 2027 and take up to two years.
