Mumbai: BMC Proposes 10 Per Cent Hike In Parking Charges At Public Lots And On-Street Parking Sites · freepressjournal.in

Mumbai’s civic body wants to make parking a little more expensive.

It has proposed raising parking fees by 10 percent.

The increase would cover public parking lots and on-street parking areas.

Mumbai currently has about 37 public lots and 67 on-street sites.

Two-wheelers currently pay between Rs 5 and Rs 30, depending on the parking period.

Three- and four-wheelers pay between Rs 20 and Rs 70.

Officials had first suggested a much larger increase of 46.40 percent.

The municipal commissioner asked them to reduce the proposed increase to 10 percent for two years.

The plan still needs approval from several civic authorities.
