Greater Bengaluru Authority Moots Paid Parking With ₹20-₹40 Hourly Charges

Bengaluru is a very big city in India with a lot of cars and not enough parking spaces.

Cars are often parked in messy and unplanned ways, making it hard for people to move around.

The city's authority, called the GBA, has come up with a new idea to fix this.

They want almost every vehicle owner to pay for parking during the day.

From 8 in the morning to 8 at night, parking would not be free anymore.

The amount you pay would depend on where you park your car.

Busy business areas would cost the most, at ₹40 per hour.

Neighborhood areas would cost ₹30 per hour, and far-out areas would cost ₹20 per hour.

Bicycles would be free because they take up very little space.

The plan also says people who own empty plots of land can charge for parking and even get tax benefits for doing so.

Homeowners would also be responsible if someone parks in front of their house.

This is only a suggestion for now, and people can share their opinions for 30 days before the final rule is made.
