Maharashtra FDA Suspends Two Mumbai Food Licences After Inspections
Maharashtra’s food-safety department inspected several food businesses in Mumbai.
It said two businesses had serious problems and suspended their licences.
One was an EatClub outlet at Royal Palms in Aarey Milk Colony.
Inspectors reported problems with storage, handwashing, ventilation, pest control and protective clothing.
They also said some food was sold without being covered by the outlet’s licence.
The second business, Rani Diets, was reported to have rats, dirty preparation areas and unsafe food storage.
The department also began steps that could suspend two bakeries in Chembur.
The businesses’ responses were not included in the reports.
The Maharashtra FDA immediately suspended the licences of EatClub Brands Private Limited and Rani Diets Consultant and Service Providers from September 2.
EatClub’s Royal Palms outlet was cited for inadequate storage, poor hygiene, pest-control gaps and insufficient food-handler protections.
Inspectors said EatClub lacked adequate employee medical and training records, complaint procedures and required technical personnel.
Rani Diets in Jarimari, Kurla West, was cited for rat infestation, stagnant water, improper waste disposal and unsafe food storage.
The FDA proposed suspension proceedings against Goodluck Bakery and Stores and Ashfaque Bakery in Chembur over alleged food-safety violations.
