Fake Parking Attendants Allegedly Demand ₹500 From Motorists Near CSMT
A person parked their car at a pay-and-park spot near a big train station in Mumbai.
When they came back, a group of men told them to pay 500 rupees for parking.
The men said they worked for the city and were allowed to collect the money.
The car owner asked for a proper receipt.
The owner tried to pay using a special code on a sign.
When the code was scanned, it did not belong to the city government.
Instead, it belonged to a regular private person.
That made the owner think the men were not real parking workers.
The men got angry and said they would damage the car if the owner did not pay.
The owner went to the police, and the police registered a case and started investigating what happened.
A Mumbai resident alleged that a group of unauthorized men posing as BMC parking attendants demanded Rs 500 in parking charges near CSMT.
The incident occurred at the MCGM Pay and Park facility on August 4, and the accused claimed they were authorized to collect the fee.
The complainant scanned the QR code displayed at the spot and realized it was linked to a private individual, not the BMC or an authorized operator.
When the complainant refused to pay and questioned the legitimacy of the collection, the accused allegedly abused him and threatened to damage his vehicle.
Police registered FIR No. 387/2026 at MRA Marg Police Station and launched an investigation into the alleged illegal collection and intimidation.
