India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 every year to remember when the country became free.

This year, the state of Andhra Pradesh held its big celebration at a place called Nelapadu in Amaravati.

The Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, was the special guest.

He raised the Indian flag and watched a big parade.

Police officers marched in neat lines and got medals for their good work.

Colourful floats called tableaux showed different government programs like education, farming, and protecting forests.

Some of these floats won prizes.

The floats are on display for people to visit until August 17.

Another leader, Minister Nara Lokesh, went to a separate celebration in the city of Vijayawada and gave medals there too.
