Independence Day 2026: Ujjain Celebrates With Grand Parade, Patriotic Performances
India has a special day called Independence Day, when the country celebrates becoming free a long time ago.
This year was the 80th time the day was celebrated.
In the city of Ujjain, a big celebration was held at a place called Dussehra Maidan.
A minister named Gautam Tetwal raised the Indian flag for everyone to see.
Soldiers and police officers marched in a big parade to show their respect.
Three loud celebratory shots were fired, and colourful balloons flew up into the sky.
Students sang patriotic songs and performed dances.
Families of freedom fighters were given shawls and coconuts to say thank you.
The famous Mahakaleshwar Temple was lit up with tricolour lights.
Everyone felt happy and proud to celebrate together.
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated in Ujjain with the main event held at Dussehra Maidan.
Minister of State Gautam Tetwal hoisted the national flag and inspected the parade from a decorated white Gypsy.
The parade included the SAF 32nd Battalion, district and women police, Home Guards, NCC cadets, Naval NCC, Shaurya Dal and NRS Dal, led by commander Aarti Raghuvanshi.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's Independence Day address from Bhopal was broadcast live, and Tetwal read out his message highlighting Ujjain's development.
Families of freedom fighters were honoured with shawls and coconuts, and prizes were awarded in armed, unarmed and cultural programme categories.
