Maharashtra Urban Seats Face Major Voter Form Shortfall
Maharashtra is checking its voter list using special forms.
In 25 city constituencies, forms for more than four out of every ten voters were not collected.
These areas include parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, and Nagpur.
Together, they have about 1.10 crore registered voters.
Forms for 48.17 lakh of those voters were not found or collected.
Across the whole state, more than two crore forms were uncollected.
Those voters may not appear on the draft voter list published on August 31.
They can file a claim to have their names added back.
More than 40% of voters’ Special Intensive Revision forms were uncollected in 25 Maharashtra Assembly constituencies.
All 25 constituencies are urban: 17 are in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, seven in Pune, and one in Nagpur.
The constituencies contain 1.10 crore electors, including 48.17 lakh whose forms could not be collected.
The 25 seats account for nearly one-quarter of all uncollected forms in Maharashtra.
Statewide, forms for 2.07 crore of 9.78 crore electors—21.16%—were not collected and could be excluded from the draft roll unless claims are filed.
