1.87 Crore Maharashtra Voters Fall Under 'Uncollectable EF' Category
Maharashtra is checking its big list of voters to make sure it is correct.
Special workers went door to door to meet every voter on the list.
They could not find many of them.
Some of those people had passed away, and some had moved to new homes.
Others were just not at home when the workers came.
All these people were put into a special group called 'Uncollectable EF'.
This group has nearly 1.87 crore people, which is about 19 out of every 100 voters.
To stay on the voter list, these people must fill out a form and give it to their local election worker.
The last day to do this is August 17.
Officials hope some voters will come forward, but they think fewer than 1 in 100 will.
Maharashtra's Special Intensive Revision placed 1.87 crore voters (19.17% of the electorate) under the 'Uncollectable EF' category.
Over 33.94 lakh deceased voters and 63.61 lakh voters who could not be traced were identified during door-to-door verification.
The Election Commission of India set August 17 as the deadline for completing the Special Intensive Revision in Maharashtra.
Voters in the Uncollectable EF category must submit enumeration forms to their Booth Level Officers to avoid exclusion from the draft electoral roll.
Lists of such voters are shared with political parties' Booth Level Agents and published on district collectors' official websites.
