Maharashtra Draft Roll Excludes Over 2.06 Crore Voters
Election officials checked Maharashtra’s voter list and prepared a new draft list.
More than two crore names were not included in this draft.
Officials said many people could not be found, had died, had moved, were registered elsewhere or appeared more than once.
Some people also did not submit the required checking form.
The draft list now has more than 7.71 crore voters.
People whose names are missing can ask to be added.
They can also ask officials to correct mistakes in their details.
Requests and objections can be submitted from August 31 to September 30.
The final voter list is expected on November 4.
More than 2.06 crore voters, or 21.14% of Maharashtra’s previous electorate, are absent from the draft roll.
The draft roll contains over 7.71 crore voters: 3.95 crore men, 3.75 crore women and 3,087 third-gender voters.
Uncollectable forms involved voters who were untraceable, deceased, shifted, registered elsewhere, duplicated or unwilling to submit forms.
Pune recorded the most uncollectable forms at 28.6 lakh, followed by Thane and Mumbai Suburban.
Claims and objections can be filed from August 31 to September 30, with the final roll scheduled for November 4.
