Maharashtra SIR Draft Roll Excludes 2.07 Crore, Claims Open
Maharashtra has published a temporary voter list after checking its electoral records.
About 7.72 crore voters were included in the draft list.
About 2.07 crore names were not included because officials could not collect their forms.
Some people were not found, had moved, had died, or appeared to be registered elsewhere.
This does not mean all of these people will be removed forever.
Voters should check the draft and make sure their names and details are correct.
People whose names are missing can apply to be included using Form 6.
The draft is not final, and people can submit requests or objections from August 31 to September 30.
The Maharashtra SIR draft includes 7,71,65,562 of 9,78,54,049 electors, while 2,06,88,487 were not included because their Enumeration Forms were uncollectable.
The uncollectable cases comprise 76.80 lakh permanently shifted, 75.52 lakh absent or not found, 34.81 lakh deceased, 17.63 lakh duplicate or enrolled elsewhere, and 2.23 lakh other cases.
Officials said exclusion from the draft does not automatically mean permanent deletion, and the figures may change during the claims and objections process.
Voters can check the draft through the Election Commission, Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer and district election websites, although online name-search access was initially unavailable.
Claims and objections run from August 31 to September 30; Form 6 seeks inclusion, Form 7 challenges an entry, and Form 8 corrects voter details.
