People in Kolkata, India, are getting ready for India's Independence Day.

On Friday, a leader named Suvendu Adhikari, who is the Chief Minister of West Bengal, started a special program called 'Har Ghar Tiranga', which means 'Tricolour in every home'.

The Tricolour is India's flag.

The program began with a big march from Survey Building to Hazra Crossing.

Thousands of people joined the walk, including two government ministers.

The leader said the march helps people feel proud of their country.

He said everyone should carry the flag with pride, just like Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked.

Another big march is planned for August 10, from the Netaji statue to Gate No.

7 of Birla Planetarium, and about 50,000 people are expected to join.

The leader also said about 70 lakh flags were given out across the state.
