Railway Minister Clarifies TTE Deployment Limits
The Indian Railways uses special staff called Travelling Ticket Examiners, or TTEs, to check tickets on trains.
Each TTE can check up to five AC coaches or three chair/sleeper coaches.
The number of TTEs on a train depends on how many coaches it has.
For trains between Delhi and Udhampur, the staff come from Jammu headquarters so they don’t sit idle.
The Railway Minister explained this policy in Parliament to answer a question from a Congress MP.
One TTE checks up to five AC coaches or three chair/sleeper coaches per train.
Deployment depends on coach composition to optimize manpower.
TTEs on Delhi–Udhampur trains are staffed by Jammu HQ personnel to avoid idle movement.
