Tamil Nadu launches two-day special e-KYC drive at ration shops
TN launches two day special e-KYC drive at all ration shops from today · thehansindia.com

The Tamil Nadu government is helping families who get food from government shops finish a special identity check.

This check is called e-KYC, and it uses fingerprints and Aadhaar cards to make sure the right people get food.

Special two-day camps are open at all fair price shops in the state.

The camps run on August 8 and 9 from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening.

Most families in Tamil Nadu have already finished this check, about 95 out of every 100.

The government wants the remaining families to finish it too.

People just need to go to their local ration shop and register their fingerprints.

This is being done because the central government asked all states to verify the Aadhaar details of people who get subsidised food.

It helps make sure that subsidised grains reach the families who really need them.

The state has been doing this e-KYC work since October 2023.
