CM to Launch New Smart Ration Card Distribution on I-Day
There is a big state in India called Telangana, and its leader, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is giving out new ration cards to families.
Ration cards are special cards that help families get food like rice at low prices.
The new cards are laminated and smart, which makes them stronger and more useful.
They will be given out starting on August 15, which is India's Independence Day.
The first ceremony will happen in a town called Sangareddy.
Similar events will take place in all 119 areas across the state on the same day.
The new cards also help families get a certificate called the Family Register Certificate, which is needed for the voter list.
More than one crore families in Telangana have ration cards.
The government is also giving three months of rice to families and has set August 31 as the deadline for a special verification called e-KYC.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will launch the distribution of newly sanctioned laminated smart ration cards on August 15 in Sangareddy.
Simultaneous distribution programmes will be conducted across all 119 Assembly constituencies between 2 pm and 4 pm on August 15.
The state-level inaugural programme was announced in an office memorandum issued by minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Telangana has over 1.05 crore families with ration cards.
The government extended the biometric e-KYC verification deadline to August 31 and is distributing three months' ration rice in a single phase from August 1 to 31.
