Southern Railway Adds Four Chennai-Mangaluru Onam Special Trains
Southern Railway is adding extra trains for people travelling during the Onam festival.
These trains will connect Chennai and Mangaluru.
The Chennai-to-Mangaluru train will run on two Fridays, August 21 and August 28, 2026.
The return train will run on two Saturdays, August 22 and August 29.
The trains will stop at several stations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
The trip from Chennai to Mangaluru will take about 17 hours.
The return trip will take about 16 hours and 20 minutes.
Passengers could begin reserving seats at 8 am on August 19.
Southern Railway will operate four special train services between Chennai and Mangaluru for the Onam travel rush.
Train 06127 will leave Dr MGR Chennai Central at 11:50 pm on August 21 and 28, 2026.
Train 06128 will depart Mangaluru Junction at 7:15 pm on August 22 and 29, 2026.
The Chennai-to-Mangaluru journey is scheduled to take 17 hours and 10 minutes, while the return takes 16 hours and 20 minutes.
Advance reservations opened at 8 am on August 19, 2026, with the services operating as trains on demand.
