Indian Railways Unveils 112 Special Trains for Onam 2026
Onam is a big festival in Kerala, a state in India.
It is a harvest festival that many people celebrate with their families.
Lots of people who work or study far away travel back to Kerala for Onam.
Because so many people travel, trains can get very crowded.
The train company, Indian Railways, decided to add 112 special trains for the festival.
These special trains will run mostly between August 14 and September 6.
They will bring people to Kerala from cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other parts of the country.
The most important day of the festival, Thiruvonam, is on August 26.
With the extra trains, more people can get home in time to celebrate Onam with their loved ones.
Indian Railways has announced 112 special train services for Kerala ahead of Onam 2026.
Southern Railway coordinated the announcement with South Central, South Western and South Eastern Railways.
The special services run mainly during the peak travel window from August 14 to September 6, 2026.
Thiruvonam, the main festival day, falls on Wednesday, August 26, with Atham beginning on August 16.
Additional connectivity is provided from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, and some existing special trains have been extended.
