PAN Reviews Court Ruling on Gibran as Lawmakers Weigh Inquiry Panel
Indonesia’s Constitutional Court issued a ruling about whether Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka had the required high school graduation evidence for his 2024 election candidacy.
The court said it had found no evidence of his high school graduation or diploma as a candidacy requirement, and a deputy parliamentary speaker said the court had rejected a request to disqualify him.
A lawmaker from the PKB party has proposed a special parliamentary panel to examine the court’s findings.
PAN, another party, says its lawmakers are reviewing the ruling and wants any follow-up to serve the country rather than political interests.
A Golkar lawmaker said no formal panel proposal had been made in the relevant parliamentary commission, and his party was studying the ruling.
Other parliamentary groups have not yet taken a clear position, so whether an inquiry panel will be formed remains undecided.
