Police investigate attack on Jakarta municipal officer after parking crackdown

A municipal public order officer was injured in an attack in Bulungan, South Jakarta, on October 8, 2026.

The officer was part of a joint operation to clear sidewalks and address illegal parking near Bulungan swimming pool.

Officials said traffic officers removed the valve cores from vehicles parked there.

A clash followed, and later some construction workers allegedly threw objects at officers and assaulted one of them.

The workers reportedly objected because they believed the site was a parking area provided by the company.

The municipal authorities reported the violence to police, who have questioned five witnesses; police said they have not yet confirmed who carried out the attack.

A representative of the project company apologized and said it would take responsibility for damage and medical costs.
