He toured the museum with schoolchildren and Culture Minister Fadli Zon, among others.

The visit came as the government discussed plans to revitalize more than 200 museums and other cultural heritage sites across Indonesia during 2026.

The work is planned to include not only building repairs but also updated historical explanations, displays and digital technology.

Officials also discussed training museum staff and developing cultural, historical and religious tourism.

The stated aim is to make museums and cultural sites more engaging and accessible, especially for young people, and to strengthen understanding of the country’s history and identity.
