MotoGP sets €5,000 fine for riders who miss promotional events

MotoGP has introduced fines for riders who do not meet minimum attendance requirements at promotional events.

The first rule applies to the MotoGP Hero Walk at the Indonesian Grand Prix, where riders meet fans who have paid for access.

The event lasts 20 minutes, and riders must stay for at least 10 minutes.

A first offence carries a €5,000 fine, which will increase for repeat offences.

MotoGP says riders’ presence at events matters to the championship’s image, and it has noted that some have been leaving early.

Some riders did not meet the minimum at the event in Indonesia, and they are expected to be sanctioned.

If repeated breaches continue, MotoGP says it may impose sporting sanctions, though it has not yet specified what they would be.
