Bezzecchi wins Indonesian GP as Martin retakes MotoGP championship lead

Marco Bezzecchi won the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika, Indonesia, his first MotoGP victory since May.

He passed pole-sitter Raul Fernandez with nine laps left, while Fernandez finished second despite racing with a fractured finger from a Saturday sprint crash.

Jorge Martin came third, and Aprilia riders took all four top places.

The sprint crash had involved Bezzecchi and Fernandez, while Marc Marquez won that race and briefly moved into the championship lead.

Marquez finished sixth on Sunday, leaving Martin at the top with 355 points, two ahead of Marquez; Bezzecchi is third with 309.

Bezzecchi said the weekend felt more like a loss than a win because of the crash and its damage to Aprilia, despite his Sunday result.

Five grands prix remain, with the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island next in a fortnight.

Very happy to be back on the top step of the podium. It was a nice battle with Raul (Fernandez) and I think me and all my team deserve a result like this.
