Mercedes puzzled as older car outperforms new F1 upgrade in Singapore

Mercedes tested two versions of its car in Singapore to learn why a new upgrade had struggled in Malaysia.

George Russell used the older version and qualified second for the Sprint, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli used the upgrade and qualified seventh.

The result has left the team unsure why the new parts are not making the car faster.

Mercedes hopes to improve Antonelli’s car before main qualifying.
