Antonelli could clinch 2026 F1 title at the US Grand Prix

Kimi Antonelli, a Mercedes driver, leads the 2026 Formula 1 championship before the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

He has 340 points, 102 more than his team-mate George Russell.

Six drivers remain mathematically in contention, with five races after Austin and 150 points still available across the season.

To clinch the title in Austin, Antonelli needs a lead of at least 125 points, the maximum Russell could make up in those five races.

The clearest route is for Antonelli to win while Russell finishes ninth or lower.

Antonelli has eight wins this season, compared with three for Russell, so he could win the title on a tie-break based on race victories.

If he does not clinch it in Austin, the championship fight continues to the next race in Mexico.
