Reynolds finds Brock’s Polarizer for a Bathurst 1000 tribute
David Reynolds found a “Polarizer” for a tribute to racing driver Peter Brock at the Bathurst 1000.
The device is a small box of crystal, magnets and foil that Brock insisted on fitting to his Holden Dealer Team road cars in the mid-1980s.
Brock believed it improved handling, performance and fuel efficiency, and the decision cost him his business.
Reynolds and co-driver James Courtney staged a mock treasure hunt to reveal the device, but finding a real one took extra effort.
The son of Brock’s former teammate and friend John Harvey eventually found one among his father’s belongings and passed it to Reynolds.
It is now fitted to the passenger-side cool box tray of Reynolds’ No.
48 Camaro.
Reynolds qualified eighth and is aiming for his second Great Race victory, but the race result is still to come.
