Indonesia plans to revitalize and reorganize more than 200 museums, heritage sites, palaces, forts and other cultural assets during 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced the plan after President Prabowo Subianto met Culture Minister Fadli Zon in Jakarta.
The work is intended to go beyond repairing buildings: it will also improve historical storytelling, exhibits and visitor information.
The government plans to expand digital and interactive experiences, strengthen museum staff, and develop cultural, historical and religious tourism.
On Indonesia’s Museum Day, October 12, Prabowo also visited the National Museum in Jakarta and met students taking part in an educational program.
