Indonesia’s New Halal Rule Adds a Report for Each Imported Shipment
Indonesia’s halal product rules are set to take full effect on October 18, 2026.
A regulation issued on August 7 adds a requirement for businesses to submit a halal product assurance report for every shipment.
Before that, businesses already had to obtain several halal certifications for foreign certification bodies, factories and shipments.
The new requirement means one more step in the certification process.
Teguh Boediyana, an executive director of an Indonesian meat industry association, said businesses see the added requirement as a heavy burden.
The rules will take effect on October 18, but the information provided does not say whether the government plans to change the requirements.
