SPMVV students hold 100-metre Tricolour rally for Independence Day
In Tirupati, a university called SPMVV held a special celebration for India's Independence Day.
Students marched around the campus carrying a very long Indian national flag that was 100 metres long.
A flag that long is about as long as a football field!
They sang patriotic songs and shouted slogans about national unity.
They also remembered the freedom fighters who helped India become independent.
The event was part of a campaign called 'Har Ghar Tiranga,' which means 'a Tricolour flag in every home.'
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor V Uma, gave a speech to the students.
She told them to be kind, honest and caring citizens.
She said building a strong nation is everyone's job, not just the government's.
The students learned that even small good actions can help make India better and stronger.
Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati organised a patriotic rally carrying a 100-metre-long National Flag on Thursday.
The rally marked India's 80th Independence Day as part of the state-wide 'Partners in Nation Building' campaign and the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative.
It was organised by the Department of Physical Education and NSS Bureau, with a large number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff taking part.
Participants carried the giant Tricolour through the campus, raising slogans on national unity, freedom fighters and citizens' duties, and sang patriotic songs.
Vice-Chancellor Prof V Uma urged students to be responsible, compassionate and socially conscious citizens, saying nation-building is a shared responsibility of every citizen.
